COLLEAGUES at a Redditch company have completed a 50-mile walk around Redditch to mark its 50th anniversary and at the same time raise money for cancer care.

The five employees at Centaur Manufacturing set out on their challenging trek at 4.30pm on August 22. They battled through the night in storm, wind and rainy conditions until they arrived back at the factory with prerequisite 50 miles under their belt.

The joint endeavour by Spencer Yates, Pete Hemming, Dan Longmuir, Jack Parson and Aaron Vowles made £2,380 for Macmillan Cancer Support, a charity that the PVCu cable management solutions company has consistently supported over the years.

They took over 134,000 steps and burnt off more than 7,400 calories each to complete the hike.

Spencer said: “This was an amazing cause to raise money for and to tie this into the 50th year celebration for Centaur was brilliant. The walk was challenging and the weather through the night was not on our side, however, messages of encouragement, donations, and the generous people who came out to see us and drop off supplies kept us going.

“For half a century, our dedication to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction has solidified our reputation and name in the market. This milestone anniversary is not just a testament to our enduring achievements but also a celebration of our commitment to British manufacturing.

“I’d like to say a massive thank you to everyone for their support and our colleagues for arranging the reception we came into at the end.”
