Come on Ollie, do your wurst

THE TOWN’S favourite Austrian is bringing a little slice of his homeland to Redditch – just in time for Christmas.

Ollie Schaunig, who runs Ollie’s café in Walter Stranz Square – outside the town hall, has introduced Bratwurst and festive-flavoured coffees to his menu.

Christmas shoppers can take a break from the busy Kingfisher Centre and get that festive feeling by popping into Ollie’s for a bargain lunchtime treat.

Who needs Birmingham’s Christmas Market?

Ollie is offering coffee syrups including gingerbread, cinnamon and roasted hazelnut alongside traditional bockwurst sausages served with German spicy ketchup and ‘senf’ German mustard – for just £2.

“I used to always have the bockwursts back in Austria from the little sausage wagons that serves all kinds of sausages,” Ollie added.

“You could say it brings me back to being a child and when the German market came to Birmingham it was like a taste of home for me – I want to bring a little bit of that to Redditch so residents don’t have to travel to the city to experience it.”
