Commissioner welcomes West Mercia Police continued focus on county lines drug supply

POLICE and Crime Commissioner John Campion has commended officers for a successful operation to tackle county lines gangs which saw a total of 37 people arrested.

John Campion joined officers in Shrewsbury as part of the intensification week and saw first-hand the scale of the operation and is reassured to see the focused dedication from all officers involved.

County Lines criminality affects many communities and unfortunately preys on the young and most vulnerable throughout West Mercia.

The Commissioner is reassured that the ongoing tireless work officers complete on a daily basis to tackle this and provide early intervention and support.

He said: “Last week’s targeted activity was a great successes and demonstrates the tireless work officers do to protect the young and vulnerable people and help build a safer West Mercia.

“A key priority in my Safer West Mercia Plan is to build a more secure community by reducing crime and reoffending.

“County lines offences are often unseen but continue to have a negative impact across our communities.

“As Commissioner I am committed to ensuring the police have the resources to keep this as a highest priority.”
