Contract from Redditch firm Heller helping disabled people find work

Redditch Editorial 17th Jul, 2019   0

VITAL contracts like one from Redditch-based Heller Machine Tools are helping to keep people with a disability in work.

Heller has been working with County Enterprises, a social enterprise which operates a packing and assembly service for the manufacturing sector as well as offering fabrication of custom-made flues for chimneys and boilers.

Almost the entire staff have either a physical or learning disability.

Heller has a state-of-the-art manufacturing centre on the Moons Moat Industrial Estate specialising in making machine tools and their contract is a key piece in helping expand the business at County Enterprises.

The social enterprise recently held an open day to mark its 40th birthday and operations manager James Rose said: “Most people are pretty surprised when they see the factory for the first time.

“We are very much a commercial operation, offering cost effective packing and assembly as well as the manufacture of flues.

“The fact our employees have a physical or learning disability is a strong aspect of our business model.

“It was a pleasure to welcome local businesses to have a look around. We just hope their enthusiasm translates into orders.”
