COOKHILL Baptist Church will be holding its 20th Flower Festival this weekend.
The Chapel Lane church will open its doors today, tomorrow and Sunday for residents to explore a variety of beautiful arrangements.
This year’s theme is ‘Precious Stones of the Bible’, with each flower reflecting the colours seen in stones such as Amber, Ruby and Sapphire.
Stones and precious gems are mentioned frequently in the Bible and also represent many issues, people and situations.
For instance in the Old Testament 12 stones were put into the breastplate of the High Priest.
The event will run from 10am to 5pm each day, except Sunday where it will start at 12pm, finishing at 5pm.
Organiser Barbara Powell said: “There will be refreshments served throughout the day, including morning coffee, ploughman’s lunch and afternoon tea.
“The garden will also be open for people to enjoy if the weather is nice.
“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone.”
