Coughton call for daredevil teddy bears to tackle zip wire challenge

Redditch Editorial 18th Jul, 2021   0

INTREPID teddy bears will be taking to the air as part of a fundraising drive at Coughton Court.

The daredevil bears will tackle a zip-wire challenge as part of a £1million drive to pay for major restoration work on the historical house’s roof

The team have constructed a perilous zip-line from the top of the tower, where little ones can watch their cuddly toy fly down from the gatehouse.

It’s all taking place through the summer between 12.30pm and 1.30pm and 2.30pm and 3.30pm, every Tuesday from July 27 to August 31. It costs just £3.50 per bear.

All bears from Paddingtons and Ruperts to Winnies and more are welcome to take part, abseiling up to the top of the tower before descending on the wire.

Harry Dingley, from Coughton, said: “We’re so excited to introduce a new event to Coughton this summer.

“We’ve constructed a pulley system to get the teddies up on the roof and another for the zip-line itself.

“The team brought in their own teddies and the reception class from Coughton Primary School also came across to give it a test.”

Certificates will be awarded to the brave bears who’ve taken a leap of faith to restore the roof, or if the bear is scared of heights they can still come along and enjoy a teddy bear’s picnic in one of the picnic spots.

Coughton’s famous Duck Race will also be taking place every Thursday from July 28 to September 2, with race one starting at 12.30pm and race two at 2.30pm.

It costs £3.50 per duck with prizes to be won.
