Council suspends refuse collections due to dangerous road conditions

Redditch Editorial 12th Dec, 2017   0

RUBBISH collections by Redditch Borough Council have been suspended due to the adverse weather conditions.

Crews are being deployed into snoww clearing and gritting duties where possible.

For those due household waste collections, council chiefs are asking residents to leave their bins out in a safe place and they will try to empty them as conditions improve.

There is only a limited service service available for bulky waste collections.

Similarly householders are asked to leave items out in a safe place and staff will endeavour to collect them.

A spokeswoman said: “We will be assessing the situation throughout the day so look out for further updates. We would like to apologise for the disruption to waste collection services due to the poor weather.”

“Refuse vehicles can weigh up to 26 tonnes and are much bigger than most household delivery vehicles, it is essential that we do not drive on roads when drivers make a judgement that it is not safe to do so.”
