Covid-19: Asymptomatic residents can book tests at Redditch Town Hall

Redditch Editorial 1st Feb, 2021   0

RESIDENTS who are asymptomatic can once again book lateral flow tests for Covid-19 at Redditch Town Hall.

Around one in three people who are infected with Covid-19 have no symptoms and could be spreading the disease without knowing it.

Broadening testing to identify those showing no symptoms will mean finding positive cases more quickly, in hope of breaking chains of transmission.

Rapid-turnaround lateral flow tests are a new type of technology, which provide results within an hour, and are being used to proactively test people who do not have symptoms.

Lateral flow devices do not require a laboratory to process the test.

Testing will be available for people aged 18 and over at Redditch Town Hall from Tuesday, February 2.

Appointments must be pre-booked HERE.

Dr Kathryn Cobain, director for Public Health in Worcestershire, said: “I am really pleased that lateral flow testing is becoming more available within the county.

“This testing will help to detect individuals who are positive for Covid-19 without symptoms which will ultimately lead to less spread of the virus.”
