CREATIVE youngsters in Redditch could see their own comic book characters brought to life thanks to a design competition launched this month.
Comic book artist and Redditch resident Jon Laight is seeking a good guy or girl hero and super villain to star in his latest creation, ‘Late Knights: A Sense of Steel’ and is inviting youngsters from all over the county to get involved.
The comic book, written by Jon and illustrated by Matt Strott is set to launch in 2017 and the all-ages comic adventure follows the capers of a modern day family who by night are a super secret crimefighting team protecting the world from the super villains.
Children aged between five and 15 are invited to design characters to appear alongside the Late family in Jon’s latest project and the father of two said: “I’ve always enjoyed comics from an early age but only recently starting to write and create my own.
“Getting children to read more and being creative is really important to me and I am really excited about the Design a Character Competition.”
Entrants can either draw the character with a description or just write down what they look like and how they behave and why.
All entries need to be sent by email at [email protected], with pictures or scans of the designs attached and “Character Competition” as the title of the email. The competition runs until Janilary 31 and winners, who’s characters will be drawn by Matt Strott and featured in issue 1, will be announced by February 8.
