Crime initiative sees Smartwater kits delivered to Redditch homes

Redditch Editorial 25th Mar, 2021   0

SMARTWATER kits are being distributed to homes in Brockhill in a bid to cut crime. The initiative, organised by County Councillor Brandon Clayton (Con, Redditch North) has seen some 400 Smartwater kits being handed out to householders.

“It’s a great deterrent,” said Coun Clayton. “Residents mark their possessions with Smartwater, which can only be seen under an infra red light and once registered if they are stolen police can quickly and easily return them to their owners.

“An added bonus is that we can also put signs up warning that this is a Smartwater area to act as a further deterrent.”

The kits have been joint funded by Coun Clayton and the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Mercia Police John Campion.
