THE streets of Studley were packed with people as a huge crowd gathered for the big Christmas lights switch in in the village last Friday evening.
The thoroughfares were thronged with people with the festivities stretching from the Co-op store on Alcester Road right up to the Village Hall in the High Street.
The attractions included Christmas carols, Redditch Rock Choir, a childrens lantern walk and a buzzing Christmas market organised by Studley in Business.
Add in Santa Claus, courtesy of Alcester and District Round Table, and a great time was had by all.
Award winning Studley in Bloom were there, Studley First Responders were on hand just in case of emergencies and community groups across the village were represented, including the Studley Christmas Lights Committee who raised the money to pay for the festive display.
“The turnout was beyond expectations, the largest we’ve ever had, it’s amazing,” said Councillor Colin Summers, the chair of Studley Parish Council, who helped with the switch on.
“I’d like to thank everyone across the community of Studley, they’ve really pulled together to make all this happen.
“Val Blundell from Studley Christmas Lights Committee has done a great job as has Sian Smith of Studley in Business – it’s been an exercise in team work and just shows what can be achieved by pulling together.
“I also think the people of Studley have fantastic hearts to turn out like this – I’m blown away by their response.”
