THERE were cakes galore delivered to the Alexandra Hospital on Monday thanks to the efforts of two Astwood Bank youngsters.
It all came from an idea of nine-year-old Charlotte Humphries who ‘wanted to do something’ for the NHS in the current crisis.
“Lots of her friends had been doing charity things but she wanted to do something a bit different,” said proud mum Rachel.
“She’s really got into her baking and just wanted to do something to put a smile on people’s faces.”
The result was boxes and boxes of handmade cupcakes all with individual messages including rainbows, NHS and thank yous.
Her 13-year-old brother James also got in on the act, knocking out some of his very own American-style cookies, to add to the total.
“It’s a small token of their appreciation of everything they’re doing at the Alex,” added Rachel, herself a former baker.
“It was a manic weekend but I’m sure the staff will enjoy them.”
