CHILDREN living with cystic fibrosis in Redditch no longer have to travel to Birmingham for their treatment thanks to the county’s first specialist service.
The group, launched by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, means that sufferers with the condition can now have a number of their appointments at the Alexandra Hospital.
Vikki Harrison, cystic fibrosis specialist nurse at the trust, said: “We are really excited that we can now offer this service to our patients.
“Having to travel out of the county for regular appointments or hospital admissions takes its toll on families – having services closer to home will be beneficial to both patients and their families.”
