THE Astwood Bank in Bloom team are looking for help in planting 2,000 more daffodil bulbs around the village, to add to the 4,000 plus already waiting to leap into life in the spring.
In addition to the bulb planting the Bloom and Carnival team are working with the Royal British Legion to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
To do this they’ll be attaching large poppies to each of the trees along Evesham Road.
Mike Spencer, chairman of the Astwood Bank branch of the RBL said: “The way the Astwood Bank community will come together to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, both on the day but also in preparation for it by placing poppies on so many trees along Evesham Road, is a true example of how communities remember those who gave so much.
“In particular we’d like to thank the Astwood Bank Carnival Committee and the Astwood Bank in Bloom team for helping us all mark this occasion. It seems vey fitting that Remembrance Sunday this year takes place on 11th November, and we hope many will join us in remembering.”
To help with the bulb planting and putting up the poppies just pop along to the traffic lights at 2pm this Sunday, October 21.
