REDDITCH MP Rachel Maclean put on her running shoes at Holyoakes Field First School to help launch the Daily Mile scheme and open a new running track.
Mrs Maclean cut the ribbon last Friday before running alongside the pupils herself.
The outdoor track allows pupils to safely do exercise in all weathers.
Parents are also being encouraged to use the track with their children before and after school.
Mrs Maclean was also keen to launch the school’s Daily Mile, a national scheme to help pupils get fit by running or jogging for 15 minutes a day.
She said it was a real honour to be involved and added: “It was clear that pupils absolutely love the new facility.
“The Daily Mile is already having a positive impact on pupils here and I would love to see even more schools in Redditch get involved by starting their own.
