Daniel’s charged up for marathon

AN ELECTRICIAN is hoping to spark a fund-raising frenzy as he takes on the London Marathon.

Daniel Wakelam will be pounding the streets of the capital for a gruelling 26.2 miles on Sunday, April 26.

The Lakeside resident, who works for Mr Electric, will be raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House which offers free accommodation as well as support for families visiting sick children at the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The 32-year-old said he chose the charity after working at the site and seeing the fantastic service they provide.

“The company is a sponsor of the charity and when we did some maintenance work there I got to see what they did.” he said.

“Taking part in the Marathon is something I have always wanted to do since a young age, I have always found it inspirational and have watched it on the television.

“After being at the house I thought I really want to do it for them, so I asked if I could and they said yes.”

He added he had been training since May last year and this would be his last chance to take on the challenge as he is moving to Australia with his wife and children.
