A MAJOR distributor of products in every home is moving its manufacturing operation from Stratford to Redditch.

DCS Group is a company that is rapidly expanding, handling the distribution of goods from industry giants like Procter and Gamble as well as making its own personal care products.

The move, to a new 90,000 sq ft unit on Ravensbank Drive in North Moons Moat will see it increase its warehouse capacity by 50 per cent.

Director of the family business, Charlie Shaw, said: “We’ve been in operation for about 26 years now, largely based in Stratford with a chunk of the business in Banbury.

“As well as being a distributor of products we make a lot of things like moisturisers, hand sanitisers and personal care products.

“We really believe in British manufacturing and we’ve been looking for some time for somewhere to move to.

“We really loved the idea of moving to Redditch because it’s a great place for us to be.”

He added that 120 jobs would be moving from Stratford to Redditch and that the firm would be encouraging car pooling and laying on transport to retain its existing workforce.

However he added that with the company growing he could see them quickly recruiting locally.”

DCS Group chief executive Michael Lorimer. “The move to the new facility in Redditch will strengthen our reputation as a leading UK manufacturer and distributor, enabling us to continue to provide excellent service to our branded suppliers and customers and ensure the long-term sustainability of our business.”

He added: “This is a really exciting development for DCS and reflects the confidence we have to grow in the market. We now employ over 100 people on the design, manufacturing and distribution of both our Enliven own label brand and other well-known branded personal care products for the UK retail market.”

According to figures in the year to December 2018 DCS sales grew by 4.2 per cent to £223million while pre-tax profits rose by 48.2 per cent to £4.3m.
