A PLANNING application for the controversial Kaug Refinery Services Limited will be heard at a meeting next week.

Taking place on at on Wychavon District Council’s offices on Tuesday, November 28, the committee will make a decision on the application, which is looking to change the use of a site to develop a facility for recovery of precious metals.

The unit under consideration is Unit 10, Moons Moat North Industrial Estate, Merse Road, Moons Moat.

In June of this year, the Standard reported residents’ concerns about the application. They claimed the town was being used as a ‘dumping ground’.

Coun Matt Dormer, portfolio holder for planning and leader of Redditch Borough Council, said he would be supporting the residents.

“We will do everything we can to assist the residents with their concerns.

“No matter what happens, we will make sure that all rules and regulations are adhered to.”

In response, Kaug Refinery Services has maintained the noise and environmental impacts would be minimal.

The meeting is open to members of the public, but due to the capacity of the room, numbers are strictly limited to approximately 50, and will be allocated on a first come first served basis on the day.

The meeting will be held in Wychavon District Council’s Council Chamber at Pershore Civic Centre, and livestreamed on the Planning and Regulatory Committee web pages of the worcestershire.gov.uk (Worcestershire County Council) website.
