A NEW Mayor has taken the chain of office at Alcester Town Council.
Councillor Vaughan Blake was elected to the top job with his colleague Coun Mike Bowe chosen as Deputy Mayor.
Vaughan and his wife Kay Blake have lived in Alcester for over thirty years, and both their daughters attended Alcester Schools.
They have been involved with many of the Town organisations in this time, with Coun Blake serving as High Bailiff in 2014/15 and remains as a trustee for several of the Town’s charities, including the Town Hall and Alcester Bunting and Lighting.
Mayor Blake will be supporting two charities during his time in office, Alcester and District First Responders and Kissing it Better, a charity which brings together young and old people to work on projects that promote mutual respect and to fight loneliness.
He said: “I am both delighted and honoured to be appointed as Alcester Town Mayor for the 2023/24 year.
“My priorities for my year are to encourage Alcester’s young folk in every way possible. I have witnessed both the talent and enthusiasm of Alcester’s young people at first hand, and I am truly in awe of their energy and vision for their community.
“My other priority is to help look after the more vulnerable residents of the Town.”
