Discover the glorious gardens of Feckenham at triennial festival

Redditch Editorial 8th May, 2022   0

IT’S been billed as the best value garden festival in the country and is happening in Feckenham next weekend, May 14-15.

Feckenham Flower and Garden Festival only comes round once every three years and following Covid and lockdown, it’s now four years since the last event was held.

With some 30 gardens to view, there will be plenty for visitors to see and do. As well as the gardens themselves there will be nurseries selling plants, teas and cakes from the WI, a pig roast, garden accessories and supplies for sale plus a display by the local history society on the Saturday.

Feckenham church will also be showcasing a flower display on the theme of ‘thankfulness’.

“It’s an opportunity to get out and about in the fresh air and see some simply beautiful gardens,” said organiser Catherine Fisher.

Now in its 34th year, the festival has proved so successful that in the past it’s been featured on BBC show Gardeners’ World and been known to attract keen gardeners from across the country.

It is all in aid of the upkeep of local parish church St John the Baptist, which is the responsibility not of the diocese but of local residents.

However, it is also a multi-denominational event, with the village Catholic church also getting involved.

Entry to the entire festival is £7.50 for adults, children free.

Parking can be at a premium in Feckenham but two fields have been set aside for drivers and these can be accessed off the road from Redditch – Astwood Lane – and will be fully signposted.

The event runs from 11am to 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday, May 14-15, and a festival programme will give details of all the open gardens.
