DOG owners can take advantage of free workshops at the Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Evesham this summer.
The Dogs Trust’s Dog School and Education team in Evesham are running three free advice sessions on August 1, August 17 and August 29 from 12.30pm until 2pm.
The sessions are carried out by professional Dog School trainers and education officers, and are for one adult and up to two children aged seven to 11 with their family dog.
The free workshops include an introduction to clicker training, basic commands, how to ‘be dog smart’ and a grand finale, where there will be the chance for families to try their hand at a fun assault course to showcase the skills they have learnt.
Jen Protheroe, Dog School West Midlands head coach, said: “We’re really hoping lots of families sign up to our workshops as it will be a great opportunity for them to learn some valuable skills they can quickly put into practice at home with their dog.
“The sessions will not only help them train their dogs more effectively but also help them to be safer around other dogs and understand dog behaviour.”
Charlotte Paddock, education officer at Dogs Trust added: “Dogs are such a huge part of the family and having a strong bond with them is fantastically rewarding. One great way to build that bond is for everyone to be involved in training. The sessions will help people learn more about positive training and responsible dog ownership and will enable them to put what they learn into practice in their own homes.”
