REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore visited the Easter eggs-travaganza in the Kingfisher Centre to try his hand at some of the activities.
The Easter Blessings event was organised by the Redditch Mission Area and was set up at Unit 6, New Walk, where the church’s popular Christmas toy appeal was based.
Families were able to go along there, spend some quality time, make some memories and also receive free chocolate eggs and age-appropriate Bibles.
In total, 300 Easter eggs were given out, along with 200 children’s Bibles, 50 youth Bibles and 40 adult ones.
Easter Blessings offered activities for all ages over the two days, including arts and crafts, a quiet place for those seeking reflection, egg-and-spoon assault course and a prayer tree, where people could leave their hopes and thoughts.
There was also a challenge asking participants to design packaging to protect a hen’s egg in a bid to keep it in one piece when dropped to the floor.
Mr Bloore said: “I want to thank Elaine for putting the event on and inviting me down.
“And, although I failed miserably at the egg drop, it was great to take part in the activities which I know will have brought a lot of fun to Redditch families.
“Easter Blessings provided a wonderful opportunity for people to come together and do something as a family which is what Easter is all about.”
Elaine Whitfield, the church and mission support coordinator for the Redditch Mission Area, said it was great for Mr Bloore to come down and support the event.
“It went really well – we had lots of great positive feedback from people who said they loved it.
“Many were already asking what we will be doing next.”
She wished everyone a very happy Easter.
