Emmanuel Church Club joins shoe box appeal

Redditch Editorial 23rd Oct, 2015 Updated: 18th Oct, 2016   0

KIND-hearted members of Emmanuel Church Craft Club in Redditch are rolling up their sleeves to prepare for Operation Christmas Child.

Every year, the club, based at the Ecumenical Centre on Evesham Walk, raises as much money as possible to send gift-filled shoe boxes to the Samaritan’s Purse UK appeal.

Pat Blount, member of the craft club, said: “A shoe box can have a big impact for a child that has nothing at Christmas. Last year we sent over 100 boxes – it is our way of making a difference and showing that we care.”

As part of the fund-raising effort, the club is holding daily Bric-a-Brac sales next week from Monday (October 26) to Friday (October 30) at the Ecumenical Centre between 10am and noon. Everyone is invited to pop in for a cup of tea or coffee whilst they find a bargain or an early Christmas present.

Anyone who wants to help with the Operation Christmas Child appeal can drop off items for the shoe boxes at the centre.
