A SERVICE administrator at Redditch firm Marubeni Komatsu is proving a knockout at Tae Kwon Do.
Gilbert Blocksidge, aged 19, will be representing England at the European Championships in Slovenia from April 11-16.
“I’ve been doing Tae Kwon Do for getting on 12 years; I just loved it as soon as I started,” said Gilbert, who now lives in Eckington, near Pershore.
His international career started to take off when he did a trial tournament for the World Championships.
Although he didn’t make it then, he was asked to try again, leading directly to his selection for England.
And he’s got the full backing of his Winyates earth mover employers: “They think it’s great – they are very supporting and the company is sponsoring me,” said Gilbert.
“I’d definitely advise anyone to try Tae Kwon Do, especially from a early age as it’s good for both discipline and fitness.”
