A CHANCE remark by to checkout staff at Tesco’s has led to a bumper donation to the Garden Suite at the Alexandra Hospital.
Borough and County Councillor Pattie Hill, a volunteer and patient at the Alex was doing her shopping at the Coldfield Drive superstore when kind staff asked how she was getting on.
“I was being cheeky and just said you couldn’t get your manager to donate a microwave to the Garden Suite could you, as it would help heat the pads to warm the veins of patients,” said Coun Hill.
“Next thing I knew three of the checkout girls had clubbed together and bought a microwave between them.”
The generosity from Tesco didn’t end there either.
There was chocolate for staff and a donation of first a £200 gift voucher and then a £100 voucher for staff.
“It just go to show what a wonderful place Redditch is, with wonderful staff at the Alex and wonderful staff at Tesco’s too. It’s a shining example of our town and our community.”
