“Everyone in Redditch is behind you” – that was the supportive words of Rachel Maclean after Prime Minister Boris Johnson was taken into intensive care last night.

Mr Johnson, aged 55, spent the night on the ICU at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London after his coronavirus symptoms worsened.

The Prime Minister has been given oxygen but has not yet been put on a ventilator, according to cabinet minister Michael Gove.

Redditch MP Mrs Maclean said: “I’m praying for the Prime Minister.

“All my thoughts are with him and his family. This disease is indiscriminate.

“I am so glad he’s in the care of our amazing NHS and I wish him all the strength to fight through this.”
