Everyone welcome: Redditch's Sandycroft centre set for summer fayre

REDDITCH’S Sandycroft Centre is throwing its doors open and inviting people to its summer fayre this Saturday, September 8.

The centre, which had one of its units destroyed by vandals in July, has since bounced back thanks to incredible support from across the town and the local community.

Now, with things almost back to normal, the fayre is to go ahead, two weeks later than planned.

Attractions will include facepainting, candy floss and sweet stall, afternoon tea and cream scones, a raffle, tombola, cake stalls, barbecue, bouncy castle and much more.

“There will be lots of things going on to bring back the feelgood factor,” said centre manager Lee Mackenzie.

Visitors will also be able to look around the centre, take a look at our education facilities, discover all about our new courses and if they wish chat to some of our mental health support team as well as ask any questions about mentoring or domestic abuse.”

Work is still going on to fully restore the centre. A team from Hewell Grange is coming in to restore the gardens while Redditch Lions have chipped in to replace the doors which were destroyed.

Local firm Arcus is also continuing its support.

Sandycroft is a refuge for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse and also offers family mediation and supervised visits, offender rehabilitation, victim support, group sessions for mental health and support for those recovering from drug and alcohol dependency.

It is also an education centre and runs a series of courses on everything from sewing to business administration.

The centre is in West Street off Mount Pleasant.
