REDDITCH MP Chris Bloore has handed a letter to Downing Street today, calling for the FTD brothers Jordan and Cian Adams to be honoured for their incredible work raising awareness about frontotemporal dementia.
The brothers have been honoured with the Freedom of the Borough, but Mr Bloore wants to go further.
In his letter, handed in this afternoon, the MP highlighted the fundraising efforts of the pair.
Jordan and Cian Adams have raised nearly £2million for dementia research in memory of their mum by running 33 marathons in 33 days.
The brothers have the faulty microtubule-associated protein tau gene which leads to frontotemporal dementia (FTD), the disease their mum died of when she was just 52.
Despite their devastating diagnosis, the brothers have dedicated themselves to raising funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Jordan and Cian started their challenge in London, with the former running the famous marathon with a 25kg fridge on his back.
Support has grown for the pair, with thousands getting behind the campaign for them to be honour nationally.
Mr Bloore said: “Their incredible work has not only raised awareness of dementia but has encouraged more families to seek support and consider genetic testing and medical advice to give them the best possible life expectancy.
”Redditch could not be prouder of the work Jordan and Cian have carried out, and the incredible legacy they are creating.
“Their perseverance in the face of tragedy, and in the knowledge of their own diagnosis is inspiring and represents the very best of not just my constituency, but of our country.
“Would you please join the people of Redditch in celebrating Jordan and Cian’s incredible efforts and fundraising, and recognise their achievements through the honours system? “
