Extra cash will help in Redditch schools

Redditch Editorial 9th Jan, 2024   0

REDDITCH schools will be benefitting from a funding increase of £1.1million for 2024/25.

This means the total funding for all schools in Redditch borough will reach £66.6million for the year.

To support schools in disadvantaged areas and to raise educational outcomes for pupils who need it most, Pupil Premium funding rates will increase to £1,480 for primary pupils and £1,050 for secondary pupils in 2024/25, an increase of 10 per cent since 2021/22.

This funding also includes an extra £440million investment to support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to fund special schools and provide mainstream schools with additional resources to meet the needs of pupils with complex SEND.

Rachel Maclean MP welcomed the news and said: “As a proud product of the state school system myself, I know how vital a first-class education is to unlocking the full potential of our young people.

“Key to this is ensuring schools receive the funding they need.

“That’s why I welcome the Conservative government’s decision to increase total funding for schools across Redditch and the villages this year, as education funding reaches almost £60billion in 2024/25.

“This funding will help ensure our schools have the funding and tools they need to make sure every child receives the world class education they deserve for a brighter future.”
