Extra festive market will help light up switch-on in Studley

MARKET experts Sketts are to hold a Christmas market in Studley on December 2, the day of the big festive lights switch-on in the village.

The market, to be held in the square by the old library, will run from 1pm to 8pm and is designed to complement the traditional Christmas Fayre which will be held as usual in the village hall from 6.30pm.

Parish councillors discussed the market idea at their council meeting last week. Some feared the Sketts market might impact on the fayre and raised concerns about parking but council chairman Paul Beaman said he was confident the two combined would provide a great boost to the village.

The Christmas market has been championed by the Studley in Business group as a means of showcasing some of the firms in the village and bringing more trade to the area.

Stratford-based Sketts run several highly successful markets, including the expanding Redditch market.
