Extra time awarded for Studley's crowdfunding Map scheme

Redditch Editorial 3rd Mar, 2018   0

THE Put Studley on the Map campaign has been given an extra 30 days to reach its target total of £35,598.

The crowdfunding drive on Spacehive.com had been due to close on March 1 but with the team so close – they’ve raised more than £27,350 so far – they’ve managed to get another month’s grace.

“They’ve stretched it a little bit for us because I think they know we can do it and we are so close we just need a bit more time,” said Sian Smith of Studley Business Forum which is piloting the project.

The aim is to put up finger posts and sign posts so people, instead of simply driving through the village, can visit its many attractions.

The cash would also help establish and maintain a website where local events could be advertised for all to see.

“Originally we had 12 weeks to reach the total but with Christmas in the middle we lost a bit of momentum,” said Sian.

The response from local residents has been excellent with pubs like the Little Lark holding a sausage and mash night and The Shakespeare suggesting regulars pay an extra 10p on their drinks towards the fund.

As well as maintaining fund raising efforts like that the team are also calling on some of the larger employers in the town to see if they can lend their support too.

“We’ve also put in for some community funds and are waiting to see if those are successful,” said Sian.

“It’s very do-able – we just need to get those pledges in.”
