A FALLEN tree caused mayhem in Church Hill this afternoon (February 1) as it led to the closure of Church Hill Way in both directions as council employees worked to remove it.
Numerous Diamond and Signature buses were forced to reverse back down Church Hill Way toward the Church Hill Centre after finding a police van blocking the road while a team worked to remove the fallen tree.
Buses were forced to turn right into Tanhouse Lane past the Centre’s McColl’s shop and some passengers chose to set off on foot back the way they had come down Church Hill Way.
No-less-than five Redditch Borough Council vans were on site as around ten employees used chainsaws to saw the tree into smaller sections before removing it.
Police were called to the area at 2.15pm to complaints of a fallen tree blocking both lanes.
