FAMILY and friends of Marcus Meade, who was shot by a West Mercia Police officer on Christmas Eve, will gather for a birthday vigil on Sunday (August 17), on what would have been Marcus’ 40th birthday.
The family say the vigil will serve as both a moment of remembrance and a renewed call for justice.
Bishop Dr Desmond Jaddoo MBE, chair of the Justice4Marcus Meade Campaign said: “It is a time to come along and light a candle in memory of Marcus.
“As we remember him on what should have been his 40th birthday, we also call for the immediate suspension of the officer who fired the fatal shot, pending the ongoing Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigation.
“The family’s suffering continues.”
The community is encouraged to join this short but important vigil in solidarity with Marcus’s family.
Candles will be lit in his memory, and campaigners will reaffirm their demand for accountability and transparency from the authorities.
The vigil starts at 7pm on Sunday at Fownhope Close.
