VOLUNTEERS from Redditch Foodbank collected an amaz\ing 1.1 tonnes of donations at a recent appeal held at Tesco Extra in Coldfield Drive.
“A fantastic result; both shoppers and staff on duty were really supportive and we collected a lot of what we needed,” said Foodbank manager Laura Kyte.
“The demand is still high but support is keeping up with it.
“It’s very encouraging and heart-warming to see. Thank you everyone!”
The summer months tend to put the biggest strains on foodbanks as children are on holiday and missing out on school meals while parents maybe taking time off to look after them.
Redditch supermarkets Tesco and Asda have drop off point for the foodbank and donations can also be left at St Stephen’s Church and at the Winyates Centre.
