A REDDITCH fashion student’s dream came true when she watched her stunning clothing collection hit the London Catwalk on June 7.
Lucy Ward, aged 23, designed and hand-crafted the collection for her final major project at De Montfort University in Leicester.
Her collection was shown at Freemasons’ Hall, in front of some of the biggest names in the fashion business.
After throwing a few ideas around, Lucy’s inspiration for her final design came from one the most unlikely places – the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham.
Lucy said: “I wasn’t looking for ideas at the time, I was just on a trip. But then I saw the jelly fish and the way they were moving really fascinated me.
“From that moment I knew I wanted to do base my design on sea creatures.”
Lucy decided to create a line of luxury lingerie, with each one crafted with hand-embellishment lace features.
“I cried my eyes out when I saw it on the catwalk. Three years of hard work, and overcoming challenges led to this incredible moment.
“After a lot stressing it was just amazing to see it all came together.”
The university also had 21 other students who showcased their collection to the fashion world.
Lucy said: “I was so proud of everyone. Every single design looked fantastic and went down so well with the people watching.
“I really think this project has thoroughly prepped us all for a career in fashion.”
The university is yet to mark the students work but results are expected within the next few weeks.
