WATCHING a powerful film about battling cancer has inspired a generous youngster to shave her hair off for charity.
Freya Taylor-Saul from Hollywood decided to fund-raise for Children with Cancer UK and donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust after watching The Fault In Our Stars last summer.
The hit film, based on a book by John Green, follows the story of Hazel Grace, a teenager who has lung cancer and has to carry around an oxygen tank as a result.
Freya has already raised more than £1,100 for the charity and still has nearly a month to go before the big day on Wednesday, March 4.
The Coppice Primary School pupil said: “I know this was only a film but it made me think how lucky I am.
“I am a very fit, healthy and energetic ten-year-old, I compete in gymnastics with my school and at a club and I take part in lots of sporting activities.
“The film made me realise that not all of us can take part in such activities as I do and having never met anyone who was or is in a position like Hazel Grace, I was shocked that people have no choice with their illnesses and how brave they are.
“It made me feel that I wanted to help in some way and do something that would make people look and understand why I want to help.”
