BUDDING Redditch filmmakers are being urged by local MP Rachel Maclean to enter Parliament’s prestigious Film the House competition.

The annual competition offers the opportunity to put local filmmakers in direct contact with the movers and shakers of the film industry.

Judged initially by Mrs Maclean, she will then put her recommendations forward for a further round of judging by industry professionals.

Prizes for the winners are provided by industry sponsors, including 21st Century Fox, Sky, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Viacom and The Motion Picture Association.

The categories for the 2018 competition are; Best Short Film (under 16), Best Short Film (16 and over), Best Script (under 16) and Best Script (16 and over). Budding filmmakers are already able to submit their entries and the closing date for submissions is Sunday, September 30, 2018.

The shortlist will then be announced in January 2019, with the awards ceremony taking place in April at the House of Commons.

“This competition is a great way for budding Redditch filmmakers to build contacts in the UK film industry and to let industry professionals know what they have to offer,” said Mrs Maclean.
