KINGFISHER Centre Redditch is encouraging visitors to explore its ‘Kingfishtory’ exhibition before it closes at the end of the year.
The exhibition opened in September to celebrate the centre’s 50th anniversary and is filled with archive photos, old TV adverts, memorabilia and quizzes.
Curated and designed by the centre’s management team, the exhibition chronologically runs through Kingfisher’s pinnacle moments, as well as highlighting famous people who have passed through the centre’s doors.
The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm each day and located on Walford Walk (opposite Clintons).
Visitors are able to discover photos of many of Kingfisher’s former shops over the years and hundreds have taken the opportunity to share their own personal memories at Kingfisher on the ‘Share Your Memory’ board.
The exhibition has been very popular with Redditch’s community and has also hosted a full year group visit from Holyoakes Field First School.
Following the closing of ‘Kingfishtory’ at the end of December, the HMS Kingfisher display will continue to be exhibited within the centre, and the renowned small palm trees will also be relocated for visitors to continue to enjoy.
Adrian Field, the Kingfisher Centre’s general manager, said: “We have been delighted both with the number of people who have been into the exhibition in the last three months and also the feedback from those who have visited.
“So many people have had links to the centre whether as a worker, shopper and where they met their partner.
“It has been a real pleasure to listen and read about some of the stories people have had.”
