Fire crews tackle blaze at Wythall workshops

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at an industrial site on Barkers Lane, Wythall yesterday.

Hereford and Worcester fire crews from Bromsgrove, Worcester and Wyre Forest, including the incident command unit were called to the fire at 2.49pm on Wednesday March, 21.

Members of Redditch fire station and West Midlands Fire Service colleagues from Kings Norton, Billesley and Northfield were also in attendance.

The fire covered a range of single-storey workshops.

Compressed air foam systems, hose reel jets and water hydrants were used to fight the fire.

Crews continued into the early hours of Thursday morning with the last crew leaving about 3.41am.




West Midlands Ambulance Service sent one ambulance, a paramedic officer and the West Midlands CARE team attended the scene.

They treated a man for serious injuries that were non-life threatening. After being treated at the scene, he was taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital for further assessment.


The incident was pending closure at 7.46am following a re-inspection with thermal imaging cameras.

Three people were left in the care of the ambulance service and police were also on scene.
