Firework Spectacular returns to Redditch with a bang

Redditch Editorial 24th Oct, 2016 Updated: 24th Oct, 2016   0

A SHOW full of sparkle is set to wow Redditch residents next week as the council’s annual Firework Spectacular returns.
The event at Arrow Valley Country Park on Thursday, November 3 will start with the funfair at 6pm followed by roadshow entertainment from local acts Lost at Home and Flex from 6.30pm.
The evening will be compered by BBC Hereford and Worcester’s Elliot Webb and at 7.30pm Redditch Mayor Joe Baker will begin the huge firework display.
Coun Pat Witherspoon, whose portfolio covers Leisure Services, said: “The evenings are getting darker, days are getting colder and the trees are losing their leaves which means it must be time for the most spectacular event of the year.
“Grab your gloves, hat and scarf and get ready for a free, fun and family friendly firework spectacular to enjoy – whatever the weather.”
Admission to the firework show is free but the food concession stands and Wilson’s fun fair will charge.
Disabled parking is available at the Battens Drive entrance and a free park and ride service operated by Diamond will run from Moons Moat Drive from 5.45pm, with a drop off point at the underpass on Paper Mill Drive. A bus will then depart every 15 minutes until the last pick up in time for the fireworks display which departs 7pm.
Return trips start at 8.15pm and run every 15 minutes until the last bus at 9.15pm.
A small section of road on Battens Drive will be closed in both directions for a distance of approximately 311 metres from its junction with Hopyard Lane to its junction with Padgets Lane between 6pm and 9pm.
Pet owners across the borough are also being given the annual reminder to be responsible and keep pets indoors on bonfire night.
