Firing the imagination: Redditch youngsters mark World Book Day

Redditch Editorial 20th Mar, 2021   0

THE schools of Endeavour School Trust in Redditch celebrated World Book Day 2021 in style last week by using the book Journey by Aaron Becker, a wordless book that tells the story of a young girl who draws a magical door in her bedroom and travels to a fantastical world.

Learning both remotely and in school, children from Crabbs Cross Academy, St. George’s CE First School and Nursery and Vaynor First School have all created their own magical worlds based on the book.

Teachers in all three schools have also created their own Masked Reader video, based on the TV show The Masked Singer, where children can try and work out who is reading the different sections of a story.

All the children received World Book Day vouchers when they returned to school on Monday, March 8 and were able to see the different ways all the children in Trust were inspired by Journey.

Adam Rivett, director of learning for English said: “We hoped that, with these celebrations our children across the three schools were reminded of the importance of talking about books, using their imagination and how amazing reading is.”
