REDDITCH businesses are being urged to get behind the thrills and spills of town centre bike racing when the Tour Series returns to the borough on Thursday, May 10.
This will be the seventh year that the UK’s top ranking professional cyclists have taken to local streets to race and local businesses are being given the chance to support the event with a range of sponsorship packages to suit every budget.
The event generates a superb atmosphere and Worcestershire County Council is offering a range of sponsorship packages for backers.
There will also be extensive coverage in the Redditch Standard plus a massive 2.4million viewers on ITV4 as well as exposure in national cycle publications.
Last year’s event attracted 15,000 spectators, five million Twitter impressions and was broadcast to more than 60 countries.
In addition, it contributed to the local economy with 21 per cent of visitors staying overnight, while 54 per cent of people were inspired to cycle more often.
“This is an amazing opportunity for our businesses” said Lorna Jeynes of the county council.
“We have developed a full range of sponsorship packages to suit businesses small and large.
“The race is such a thrilling, high profile event in our calendar. It has an international reach, attracting large numbers of visitors to the county.
“There are four levels of packages, all tailored to accommodate as many Worcestershire businesses as possible. This event is just one way to show the world that Worcestershire is World Class and very much open for business.”
In addition, businesses can enter a team into the Redditch Business Race sponsored by Kingfisher Shopping Centre.
