THE FIRST Community Fete in Brockhill has been hailed a massive success.

The event, held on Saturday, featured a variety of activities for all ages, including crafts, community stalls and fun games for children and adults.

Batchley and Brockhill Councillor Joe Baker, who helped organise the event, said: “This was a great event with lots of residents turning up to take part – this is what being part of the community is all about.

“A massive thanks to everyone who took part and made this possible.”

He added the adults and children were stars during the games, which were hosted by game master Bill Hartnett.

Local Labour Party members were on hand, along with The Brockhill Residents Association, to give help and advice where needed.

Coun Baker also gave thanks to all the volunteers who helped run the event and to Persimmon Homes for allowing the green to be used.

“We’d also like to thank the Burrington Close residents for their patience while the event was on.”

The event was also aimed at helping local businesses and charity groups promote themselves and to raise awareness and work is now under way to make the Brockhill Community Fete a regular event.
