STAFF and students are celebrating at a Redditch school after it has become the first middle school in Worcestershire to receive a national accolade recognising its work in improving the well-being, resilience and self-esteem of its pupils.
Woodfield Academy was awarded the Achievement for All (AfA) Quality Mark Award in recognition of the hard work done by staff to improve progress in reading, writing and maths for all students – particularly those with special educational needs and/or disabilities.
Steve Bond, headteacher at Woodfield, said: “We are very proud and I am very grateful to all of the staff who have mentored children and to all the pupils and families who have engaged with the project. The progress our pupils have made is phenomenal.”
