SUMMERS spent at Lyme Regis when she was a child has fired one Redditch resident into a major fund-raising drive for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Petrina Muscroft has joined the RNLI’s nationwide fish supper campaign and on October 16 she’ll be serving up delicious fish dishes and vegetarian alternatives to make the day a success here in landlocked Redditch.
“When I was little we always used to go to Lyme Regis on holiday and I had an aunt who was involved with fund-raising for the lifeboats and she would always pull me into the lifeboat hut to help and it’s sort of stayed with me ever since,” said Petrina, from Headless Cross.
“Other charities seem to get far more attention and yet the RNLI do such fantastic work; they’re all volunteers and imagine you could be working in a shop one moment and then be out in a gale battling the seas to save someone’s life the next.”
On the menu is salmon, and there’ll also be fishfinger sandwiches plus a pasta dish for those who don’t like fish.
To make the evening a success Petrina, who works at Forge Mill Needle Museum, needs to have an idea of how many will be turning up to eat.
