Flooded out: Reach CIC on the move after deluge sinks offices

A SIGHT to deflate the the most buoyant of spirits greeted staff at Reach CIC in Winyates last Wednesday.

After a day of torrential rain they walked into their district centre base – known as The Space – to discover a ceiling bowed by water and water running down the walls and all the electric off.

“The flat roof above the office was like a swimming pool,” said Liz Williams, director at Reach CIC which is organisation dedicated to helping people get by.

It prompted a move across the centre to their old offices at The Link, which had been vacated by local foodbank charity Acts of Kindness earlier in the year.

“The property services team have been amazing and it looks like we will be in the Link for at least a month,” added Liz.

She hopes all their normal services should be up and running for Monday, August 24.

Reach CIC played a key role in Redditch’s much lauded response to the coronavirus pandemic which developed into a massive community wide help network for people self-isolating and the town’s vulnerable.

Last month it was announced it had received a National Lottery Community Fund grant of £53,970 from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund to further its work tackling the effects of the pandemic in Redditch.
