Flower power at Cookhil Baptist church festival

THE SUN shone down on Cookhill Baptist Church last weekend as it held its annual flower festival.

Visitors enjoyed the colourful flowers on show and were also treated to morning coffee, ploughman’s lunches and cream teas in the afternoon.

This year’s theme was ‘light out of darkness’, with each flower reflecting that.

Organiser Jackie Morgan said: “Despite some very hot weather, we had many visitors on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday too.

The eight exhibitions followed the theme with an amazing array of flowers and colours illustrating passages from the scriptures.

“Perhaps the most outstanding one was of a lighthouse depicting the request for God to send his light and faithful care to lead us, as this was set against the open baptistry filled with water to represent the sea.

“Children visiting loved playing with toy boats driven by battery power.”

Although the weather remained warm, there was enough cloud cover to conduct their service in the garden.
