REDDITCH-based Fly By Nite Conferences is to receive £586,000 from the Government’s £1.57billion Cultural Recovery Fund.

The Lakeside-based firm provides transportation to the live event industry, carrying equipment such as stage sets, lighting, and power generators throughout the UK, Europe and beyond with a fleet of specialised vehicles and drivers.

They also have an eight-acre site including temperature-controlled warehouse facilities for storage of set and theatre props, and a purpose-built arena sized state of the art rehearsal studio.

There they have have worked with acts such as Madonna, Stormzy, Kaiser Chiefs and Sigur Ros.

The Government funding is to allow them to safely prepare their fleet – many of which have been off the road for events and festivals happening in the summer.

Other organisations in Worcestershire receiving cash are Avoncroft Museum (£92,000) in Bromsgrove and the world famous Malvern Theatres (£328,120).

Secretary of State for Culture, Oliver Dowden, said: “Our record-breaking Culture Recovery Fund has already helped thousands of culture and heritage organisations across the country survive the biggest crisis they’ve ever faced.

“Now we’re staying by their side as they prepare to welcome the public back through their doors – helping our cultural gems plan for reopening and thrive in the better times ahead.”

Peter Knott, Area Director, Arts Council England said: “We’re delighted the Culture Recovery Fund has been able to offer support to a wide range of arts and cultural sector organisations across Worcestershire.

“The Government’s package is hugely welcome, providing much of the sector with resources to reopen safely. Building upon investment made in the first round of Cultural Recovery Funding, we’re pleased to see that many more well-loved community projects, theatres, galleries, museums, clubs, music venues, festivals, key cultural suppliers along with other creative spaces and projects have benefited, and their communities will feel a boost as a result. Now that we’re hopefully on the road to recovery, there is much to look forward to as organisations get ready to reopen their doors, welcoming back audiences and making plans for the future.”
