FOOTBALL fans kicked off their school day with a special visit from a children’s author.

Dan Freedman, who has written popular books based on the sport, spoke with pupils from Woodfield Academy as well as holding writing workshops.

The writer, who works as an editor for the Premier League and FIFA, also donated 20 signed copies of his latest book from the Jamie Johnson series called Skills from Brazil.

The books follow the 13-year-old on every step of his journey as he aims to fulfil his dream of becoming one of the biggest football stars in the world.

A spokeswoman from the school said: “Dan was an inspiration to our students, encouraging them to produce creative writing beyond their usual standards.

“His books have also inspired some of the students to read both wider and more frequently”
