THE OWNER of a Ford Focus RS which thieves attempted to steal from Redditch on Friday is urging those with other high performance cars to take precautions.
The driver – who does not want his name or exact location revealed – saw thieves trying to steal his vehicle around 10.40pm.
He said they arrived in a white Ford Focus RS and four of them got out and tried to steal the car.
“They got into my car within 20 seconds but I have a number of security systems that prevented them from starting it and driving it away.”
He added they left but then returned 20 minutes later in a bid to steal it again – on that occasion there was another man on the other side of the road with a device on his chest.
Again they were unsuccessful and drove off empty-handed.
The driver got in touch with the Standard after reading about a similar story on our sister paper’s site in Bromsgrove regarding the theft and recovery of a Ford Focus RS in Belbroughton.
He has a ‘Ghost’ immobiliser on his vehicle which needs a specific combination typed in before it can be started and a GTE tracking device which he said he would recommend drivers of other Ford Focus RSs and high performance cars.
